Example Itinerary:
Day 1: Welcome to bear country
Your adventure begins upon arrival in King Salmon, Alaska, where you'll be met by lodge staff and transferred to your scenic floatplane flight into one of the most wildlife-rich regions on Earth. As you soar over winding rivers, rugged mountains, and endless wilderness, you'll get your first glimpse of the remote landscape you'll call home for the week.
After settling into the lodge, we'll review the plans for the days ahead, prepare camera gear, and enjoy our first evening in the Alaskan wilderness.
Days 2–6: Daily Fly-Out Bear Photography
Each morning, we'll fly by floatplane to carefully selected photography locations based on current wildlife activity, weather, and lighting conditions. This flexibility allows us to maximize every opportunity and photograph bears in a variety of spectacular settings throughout Katmai National Park and the surrounding region.
From rivers teeming with spawning red salmon to the world-famous Brooks Falls—where massive brown bears leap for airborne salmon—you'll experience an incredible diversity of bear behavior. Depending on the conditions, we may photograph bears fishing, sparring, foraging, interacting with cubs, or simply roaming through breathtaking landscapes.
Every day is different, and our schedule remains intentionally flexible so we can adapt to changing wildlife activity and make the most of each photographic opportunity. We'll spend long, rewarding days in the field, returning to the lodge each evening to relax, share stories, and prepare for another unforgettable day.
Day 7: Final Bear Encounters & Return to King Salmon
After breakfast, we'll head out for one final photography session before returning by floatplane to King Salmon in time for your departing flight.
By the end of the week, you'll leave with an incredible collection of images, a deeper appreciation for Alaska's magnificent brown bears, and memories of one of the world's greatest wildlife photography destinations.

There are limited single rooms available. We will do everything we can to ensure guests have the room accomodations of their preference. Please discuss your request with us upon registration.

Getting to King Salmon is simple!
Alaska Airlines flies to King Salmon multiple times each day. Upon signing up, you will be provided with information on which flight times to choose on your arrival and departure dates.
You can either book a flight all the way from your departure city to King Salmon or choose to overnight in Anchorage. This would require booking a separate flight from Anchorage to King Salmon.

Absoluely! We have many people join our trips who want to come and enjoy this incredible experience. Guests are welcome to join us on our excursions each day or kick back at our comfortable lodge while admiring the view.
All guests are responsible for full tour tuition regardless of whether or not they are a photographer.

All guest room have private, en suite bathrooms.

Physical difficulty of this workshop is moderate to high.
Guests need to be physical fit, sure footed, and able to hike. The mileage each day varies, but guests should be prepared to hike 5-6 miles over the course of the day. The terrain is mostly flat, over tundra and along riverbeds.
We will be wearing waders for all our bear excursions as we will be crossing streams and walking through water.
Be prepared to spend long days in the field.
